GARY JEWKES FAMILY REUNION

Breckenridge, CO

This semi-annual Family Reunion brought all 42 of us to Breckenridge, Colorado for a few days this past week. My parents have eleven children and 19 grandchildren and we all stayed in one 10-bedroom house! Needless to say, there was ALWAYS something going on. We managed to squeeze in some structured activities- and this is no small thing when you are dealing with such a huge crowd- Whitewater Rafting, Family Bike Rides down Vail Summit, Family Olympics, Kickball, Breckenridge Shopping, Family Hikes, and tons of fishing (note the river about 10 feet from the cabin). The scenery was amazing and so was the company- especially after the kids went to bed! Thanks Mom and Dad for making it happen and giving us such a great reason to get together.

The pics look great. I am sad I never got that little tutoring session form you Brian with my camera/ Last night I found myself actually reading the manual in hopes of getting better pics. UGH! That was a drag.

You are the only other person besides my mother in law that says smith looks like my dad... ha ha. I will have to look more closely! My dad says he looks like Kendall.

I love the family pics!!

OK- you Jewkes guys are just getting ridiculous. You need to quit producing all those beautiful people.

I think we have decided to stay here for the next year or two. We are still keeping Texas in our sights for the near future. :) Are you just dying for me to be your neighbor?

Amazing pics. Where are the other ones? I know you took like hundreds and between your blog and the flickr thing, there aren't even 25. Where are they, Brian??!! They don't have to be perfect, just show 'em!

Hi! I hope you don't mind, but I found your blog on Emily and X's.. My husband, Ben, and I used to be in the 1st ward with you guys a few months ago. Anyway, the reason for my comment is the pictures you take are phenomenal! What kind of camera are you using? And is it a lot of photoshop, or mostly just messing around with the camera settings? I'm looking into getting a new camera and I'd love to be able to have my pictures come out half as good as the ones you're taking! Thanks so much for any help!

Hi Jessica, Thanks.

I use a Nikon D80 ... which is still a consumer grade camera. There is also the D40 & D60 which are also good consumer cameras for a lower cost. The trick is to get a good camera (DSLR) w a great lens. As far as photoshop, I try not to do too much ... just a couple things to give the picture a little more contrast & saturation ...

I'm glad ya'll still remember us!! We moved up to Leonard, so we're actually in the Bonham ward now. It feels like a whole different planet! Ben loves it, we have lots of land to play around on, but I miss Allen so much!
And Brian, thanks so much! I'll have to do some shopping around, but now I know where to start! I can't wait! Thanks again!
